About

Founded by Alistair Horscroft in London in 2005 and then re-located to Australia in 2007, The Mind Academy is one of the longest running multi-certification providers of Hypnotherapy, NLP and Coaching certification trainings in the world. Alistair was the first to integrate these modalities and for many years they were run as The Diploma Of Modern Psychology through the Australian Government education framework.

The Mind Academy has close relationships with leading associations and is seen as having some of the most professional, inspiring and comprehensive trainings of it’s kind in the world.

The Mind Academy is at the forefront of developing and training new and impactful Mind Science therapies and coaching models with The Hummingbird Method having been accredited by the IITC in 2023 and The High Performance Hypnosis System being released the same year.

The Mind Academy seeks to share practical, knowledge and processes to improve ones own life and the life of others. We integrate hypnosis, NLP, coaching, psychotherapy, modern psychology, neuroscience and philosophy to achieve this.

Manifesto

  • A genuine learning institution teaches people not what to think, but how to think.

  • A genuine learning institution does not define success, rather it teaches people how to succeed.

  • If a training course can only be taught by one ‘special’ trainer, it is at it’s core, a personality cult, and therefore it is inevitably about the ‘guru’ and not the students or the use and impact of the knowledge created and shared.

  • The purpose of life is to maximise as much of your innate potential as possible, and then help as many people to do the same.

  • Humanistic principles before religious and spiritual values creates a more empowered world for everyone. A world of positive self regard for all comes first.

  • Growth and learning requires leaving ones existing comfort zone, embracing challenging and often contrary knowledge, attitudes, values, ideas and concepts, with the end outcome being that if the new works better than the old, that it is obvious we will choose it.

  • Humans are born to thrive and succeed, to be creative and expressed. If the ‘therapy/psychology/coaching’ approach is to only teach ‘coping strategies’ then this is not possible. We have the capacity to resolve and go on to the new and the successful. Suffering is not meant to be our life.

  • We become conscious through knowledge and understanding of others, life and ourselves… not through sitting in a cave meditating.

  • To live fully is to live with meaning, to be a part of something that is for both the greater good and for the good of oneself.

  • The world always requires good people to step up with courage and be the change they want to see, rather than what most do, which is to try and change the people they see. Change ourselves and become the light that says ‘it is possible, I did it’.

  • True NLP is about excellence, freedom and growth. It is wanting these, embodying these and living these values. NLP courses or trainers that do not display these values in body, relationships, success and life have not embodied what it really is.

  • Coaching is about empowering others to not just dream their dreams but to live them. Coaching is less about goal setting and far more about goal achieving. If a coaching course or the trainers are more about goal setting than goal achieving, then it is not truly coaching.

  • Hypnotherapy is about connecting with and engaging rapport with the intelligence and resources of our unconscious mind. It is not about having power over another. It is always about learning how to harness our own power and becoming as conscious and as self aware as we can. Any hypnosis course or trainer that attempts to teach or exert power over another is by default highly questionable.

  • Psychology without philosophy leaves the person non-integrated. Someone can have anxiety and be unhappy and without purpose and someone can resolve anxiety and still be unhappy and without purpose. Psychology is only 50% of the solution. Philosophy is the other 50%.

  • The end always comes. What will you do before the curtain falls? How conscious will you become and how much will you contribute humanity?
